Most clients feel minimal discomfort — a light scratching or buzzing sensation. Redness and sensitivity usually subside within 24 to 48 hours. There is little to no downtime, though sun protection and gentle care are recommended immediately after treatment.
You may notice brightness after one session, but optimal improvement generally requires a series of 4 to 6 treatments spaced two to four weeks apart. The exact number depends on your skin concerns and desired outcome, with periodic maintenance recommended.
Microdermabrasion improves shallow acne scars and uneven texture by stimulating cell turnover and smoothing the skin surface. Deep or pitted scars may need additional procedures like microneedling or chemical peels; we will recommend the best approach after evaluation.
When performed by a trained professional who customizes settings, microdermabrasion is safe for most skin types and tones. Those with active inflammation, open wounds, severe rosacea, or recent isotretinoin should consult with a provider first.
Avoid strong retinoids, chemical peels, waxing, and excessive sun exposure for at least a week before treatment. Afterward, skip aggressive exfoliants and tanning, use gentle cleansers, hydrate, and apply broad-spectrum sunscreen to protect the renewing skin.
Wait at least 24 hours before applying makeup to allow the skin to calm. Resume gentle moisturizers and sunscreen first, and avoid potent actives like retinoids or acids for three to seven days depending on sensitivity.
